PARADOX
A seemingly contradictory statement
that may nonetheless be true.

The Paradox Aurora Project

Can the effects of the Aurora Borealis Northern Lights be detected on earth with technology?
Can ancient stone structures, standing stones or stone circles act as energy gatherers/amplifiers?
If so were the builders of ancient structures aware of this?

The sun goes through an 11 year cycle of rising and falling sun spot activity, charged particles are ejected from the sun during a solar storm this is known as a corona mass ejection CME.
When the charged particles head towards the earth, they take approximately 2-3 days to arrive.
When the particles come in contact with the earth's magnetic field they are normally deflected by it, but during the time of high energy activity, particles break through and reach our atmosphere, the charged particles collide with gasses in our atmosphere to create the lights we call the Aurora Borealis - Northern (and southern) Lights.
There is also another process in action, the sheeting/moving effect often seen is possibly an interaction with lines of magnetic field emanating from the earth, most prominently in a circle around the earths magnetic poles.

Solar activity is now rising after a very quiet period, statistically there then follows an increase towards a high peak of activity.

During a previous peak of sunspot Aurora when a large emission of particles arrived at the earth, mains electrical systems were effected causing blackouts in parts of the world, proving charged particles can reach the surface of the earth.

Whether it was known or not at the time of building the enormous structures but the silica/sand/quartz composition of the stone has the potential to attract, accumulate and store (for a short time) electrical charge.

And yes primitive technology could have existed at the time to indicate electrical charge to those persons present in these and other structures.

If a CME was of a high magnitude it is possible the Egyptian and Mayan pyramids could act as massive gatherers of electrical-particles/energy/charge. Did the builders know this when they were constructing them?
The shape of a pyramid is considered by some even today as an energy focus.
In the coming years as the Aurora intensifies, interesting experiments could be conducted at any major stone structure, experiments to test for rising electrical charge - energy build up at the site. Could this be a hidden secret of the pyramids that the ancient builders were aware of but are long forgotten - until now?
It is possible that during a period of high Aurora activity anyone inside a stone structure could witness light anomalies from the piezo/vibration effect or sound 'effects' from an induced vibration from within the stone?

As we approach the year 2012 and the ending of the Mayan calendar, is it a coincidence that sunspot activity is also rising, will this combine to add the doom and gloom mentality that will undoubtedly be portrayed in the media as the end of the world?

Or should we consider other possibilities from charged particles?

When an alternating/changing voltage is applied to quartz crystal a physical vibration can occur that results as noise. This is used in a piezo disk loud speaker.
Certain types of quartz can create light within when struck together or vibrated.
A large stone rich in quartz has the potential to accumulate and store (for a short time) an electrical charge, several large stones could store a larger charge and if they were connected in parallel the charge would be greater still. But as large upright stones are is based in the ground they could only store charge for a short time and environmental/atmospheric conditions would be a factor in this.
So any measurable effect would be short term, as would any effect on any persons near a stone.

If/when charged particles collide with stone containing quartz or silica this could cause vibration within the stone, this could have an accumulative effect to create a detectable changing or rising voltage.
It could create sound or light effects from the friction and vibration of individual quartz crystals within a stone
There could be a rising/changing voltage that could have an (as yet) unknown effect on the immediate atmosphere or those present.

When viewing Stone Henge from a different perspective - from my electronic perspective, the trilithons remind me of giant AA torch batteries, each upright is the cell, the lintels form an 'electrical' connection between each upright to create a multi cell battery but in a circle.
When the circle was complete thousands of years ago, with its complete circular shape and the dressed inner faces of the stones, could this have directed an 'energy or charge' inward? Towards a gathered group?

Often referred to as an ancient astronomical calendar, could there be an 11 year cycle calculator that would correspond with the 11 year sun cycle built within the design of the circle?
Is this the purpose of Stone Henge? An energy capture/accumulator during times of high activity Aurora Borealis or other atmospheric phenomena?

As large CME that then cause a strong Aurora light show can have a known effect on out 21st century technology, did ancient man build stone megaliths/circles/monuments to harness this energy?

Could any prospective energy detected at a stone structure be connected with a healing purpose?

During ancient times any atmospheric event would probably seemed to have mystical -spiritual meaning, the Aurora with its unpredictable movement might have seemed to have meaning or be a given force, light in the sky at night would have seemed 'magical effect' just as it captivates today.

But before considering or dismissing any of these theories you the reader must view the above ideas as ancient man would have, not with our 21st century brain.

Could an energy surge have an impact on spirit communications in haunted locations?
Or it could help with the manifestation of a ghost?
Could increased energy fields increase the ability of healers and spirit communicators?
Anyone sensitive to 'energy' in stone structures with minimum mains wiring could feel an effect during a strong burst. (mains wiring could act as a shield or ground charge to earth).

This theory could apply to any stone structures here in the UK, structures such as Avebury stone circle, West Kennet Long Barrow, the many standing stones still existing, Bryn Celli Ddu, Duloe white quartz stone circle in Cornwall, Callanish in the Outer Hebrides and many others could act as energy collectors.
The effects on people present at the time of an Aurora event is unknown, but it would be interesting to find out?
Many of these structures still hold mysterious secrets, the main and common question is what were they for?

I will create a kit of technology ready to use at the time of increased Aurora activity, this will be used at some of the various sites listed here, my ideal target sites would be (S)stone (H)henge, Avebury, West Kennet Long Barrow, Callenish stone circle.
But unless my fairy godmother is in a good mood to help with expenses I will be happy to experiment at local sites.

I am working on a kit of technology for relevant experiments.

To convert electrical charge into sound in its natural form or to drive a tone generator and a LED display for visual reference.
Tests could include measuring a voltage difference --
Between the top and bottom of a standing stone.
Between the inside and outside of a burial chamber.
Of a burial chamber capstone stone supported on stone wall/supports.
Measuring magnetic fields in and around various stone circles and standing stones.
Testing for physical vibrations emanating from various stones.
Testing for light emissions/anomalies at night in a stone chamber.

Can a megalith stone or an iron rich stone generate a magnetic field from increased Aurora activity?
Can a stone rich in quartz create a vibration or generate light from increased Aurora activity?
Stone composition will be of relevance to results.

If any form of electric, magnetic, light or vibration energy could be detected before, during or after an Aurora event at a stone circle (Stone Henge) or stone chamber it would cause me to ask were the builders aware of this property and what would the effect have been on ancient man?
In particular, Stone Henge with its dressed, closely positioned circular layout of stones could potentially focus any energy inwards towards a gathered crowd.

Another experimental technology could be used to convert the light of the Aurora into sound, this could be either from the changing intensity of the moving light or from the varying colour of the light, this experiment could only happen at a location where the Aurora is visible to the naked eye, in the northern hemisphere.
I also hope to do the same with the light of the aurora, converting it into sound, will it sing to us?

Fortunately a CME from the sun takes about 2-3 days to reach the earth and cause the Aurora , 2 - 3 days to plan a visit to a local site, but anywhere in the British isles is accessible at short notice.

Of course these experiments would ideally be conducted in a northern latitude but for the present I am interested in UK based locations to see if any effect can be detected and for financial reasons I am unable to travel far to conduct this research.

The above ideas are my speculative thoughts waiting for investigation and I know I will be doing something interesting during the forthcoming Aurora events.
I hope to involve a network especially my friends in Scotland as observers in an experiment as the Aurora grows and if possible I would like to travel north to be nearer the action.

More to follow.
