PARADOX
A seemingly contradictory statement
that may nonetheless be true.

ZENER CARDS AT PLAS TEG
6/10/06

Friday 6/10/06

During one of the regular paranormal nights held at Plas Teg, I offered the
opportunity to the visiting public, to take part in a zener card test.
Zener cards were developed as part of a test routine for ESP and consist of
25 cards, 5 each cross, star, circle, square & wavy line.
The test was unannounced before the event and was optional for the guests.

The test was performed twice, first in the Great Chamber a large room on the first floor and later in the main hall a large room on the ground floor.

The test was performed in the following way-

Run 1
The standard zener routine, the sender chooses from a random/shuffled pack,
one card at a time, viewed and concentrated on for a short period.
The participants (who could not see the senders card) then choose from their own set of cards, the card they think the sender can see.
Cards are then stacked in order by the receiver for later self checking and scoring.

Run 2
Similar to part 1, but after each card is viewed and 'sent' by the sender, the card is
then revealed to the participants for instant scoring, hits are recorded as the test continues.

Run 3
A repeat of test 1.

A comparison can then be made between the tests for any changes in hit rate or
'psychic ability'.

In the 'run 2 test', from the instant score system I hoped the participants might gain an increased 'psychic' ability (or response) and increased hit rate from the instant feedback.

When then comparing results from test 1 with test 3 any changes will then be evident.

Conclusion

Although the test was carried out late in the evening and the location was very unusual - at night in a haunted house, there was a different result in each room.

A greater number of people increased there hit rate in the great chamber but a higher hit rate was obtained the main hall, but this was held much later at night.

The varying results are very interesting and will be repeated, the test data will then be compared.
